look whos a star

"Look Whos A Star" is a 2007 chestnut unraced Thoroughbred mare who has been a broodmare her whole life, producing five foals. We rescued her from a kill pen, where she was bound for slaughter, on February 20, 2019.

"Star" is in poor condition and her feet are in bad shape due to neglect. She is purportedly unbroke and a cribber. Our plan for "Star" is to get her back in good health and then evaluate her. We will look to train her to be a riding horse, but if not, she will adopted as a companion horse. If you are able to help "Star" on this journey, please donate in her name.

UPDATE 3/19/19: Star is still in quarantine and is on meds for an upper respiratory infection and a concussion. It looks like she was kicked in the head while in the kill pen. The vet has been out several times to monitor her and she is improving. She will likely stay in QT a little longer so that we can be sure she is clear of the infection. While afraid of people, Star is slowly beginning to become more trusting.

UPDATE: Star was cleared from quarantine and taken to foster on 4/20/19. She is currently available for adoption. Her fee is $500.
